Inaugural Meeting of Purpose Built Communities Network Members
March 1 - 2, 2010 New Orleans
Leaders of community revitalization organizations from across the country gathered in New Orleans on March 1 and 2 for the Inaugural Meeting of Purpose Built Communities Network Members.
The meeting opened with a behind-the-scenes tour of community revitalization efforts underway in New Orleans' historic Bayou District, led by Purpose Built Communities Network Member, the Bayou District Foundation.
Meeting attendees participated in workshops, then attended a private luncheon featuring Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, New Orleans Mayor-Elect Mitch Landrieu, Xavier University President Dr. Norman C. Francis and Shirley Franklin, former Mayor of Atlanta. The program included a discussion with Purpose Built Communities visionaires Tom Cousins, Warren Buffett and Alex Robertson.
